Overview

Economics and Finance is an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Toronto Metropolitan University's Faculty of Arts examining how money, trade and business operate at local and global scales. The curriculum develops analytical, quantitative, critical-thinking and research skills through coursework in economic theory, financial markets and data analysis. The program is offered as a 4-year full-time degree, with a 5-year co-op option that adds paid work terms in finance, banking or related sectors. Students study topics spanning macroeconomics, microeconomics, financial institutions and investment analysis, building a quantitative foundation applicable to both the public and private sectors. Graduates are prepared for careers in banking, investment, financial analysis, economic consulting and government, as well as further graduate study in economics, finance or business.

Minimum GPA: 70.00 / %
Admission Requirements: Ontario applicants need the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with 6 Grade 12 U or M courses, including English/anglais (ENG4U/EAE4U preferred) at a minimum of 70%, with an overall average of at least 70% required for consideration. The competitive average needed for admission fluctuates each year with application volume and available spaces. The university's general English proficiency guideline applies for international applicants: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no minimum band requirement, TOEFL iBT 92, Duolingo English Test 120, PTE Academic 60, CAEL 70.
