Program details
Overview
This Bachelor of Arts (Honours) program in History examines past events and cultures across multiple perspectives to understand contemporary global issues. Students work with documents, artifacts, oral accounts, and digital media, building research, communication, and analytical skills through foundational courses, a historian's-craft component, and senior seminars. The program follows a common first-year foundation shared with eleven other Bachelor of Arts programs at the university, with specialization beginning in later years. It is offered as a four-year full-time program or a five-year co-op option that adds paid work terms. Students can combine History with a double major in Criminology, English, Philosophy, Politics and Governance, or Sociology. Graduates pursue roles such as archivists, educators, historians, museum curators, and research analysts, or continue to graduate study in history or related fields.
