Geography & Environment is offered jointly by the Faculty of Natural & Applied Sciences and the Faculty of Social Sciences & Humanities at Trinity Western University, leading to a Bachelor of Arts degree, with minor and concentration options also available. The program examines major global challenges including climate change, species extinction, habitat fragmentation, urbanization, poverty, and development, combining knowledge-building with applied problem-solving skills. Students gain hands-on experience through the region's proximity to freshwater, mountain, saltwater, and island ecosystems as well as urban and rural settings, supported by a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) lab with current mapping and spatial-analysis technology. Faculty expertise spans ecological restoration, sustainable agriculture, marine biology, urban planning, and resource management. The BA option draws more heavily on the human and social dimensions of geography, complementing coursework from across both contributing faculties.
