The Geography program examines physical environments and human habitats, covering topics such as global warming and climate change, food and water resources, ecosystem management, human health, regional economic disparities, urban infrastructure, native land claims, and permafrost. As both a physical and social science, geography offers approaches for analyzing environmental and situational problems affecting societies from multiple perspectives. Students take part in seminar classes and work in physical and computer labs, with access to field courses that provide hands-on learning. The program is administered within the Faculty of Arts and combines classroom, laboratory, and field-based study. Graduates are prepared for further study or careers spanning environmental analysis, urban and regional planning, resource management, and other fields that draw on both physical and human geography.
