At Université de Montréal in Montréal, Canada, BA/BS in Law is offered as a bachelor's degree in Law programme. The programme runs for 3 years, delivered on campus. Tuition for international students is CAD 107,775 per total.
This undergraduate program leads to a Bachelor of Laws from Université de Montréal, delivered full-time through day courses on the Montreal campus. The curriculum introduces both civil law and common law traditions, covering core subjects such as obligations, property rights, constitutional law, criminal law, administrative law, and international and comparative law, alongside more advanced courses in legal interpretation, legal theory, business law, dispute resolution, and evidence. Clinical activities are integrated throughout the program, and students have access to optional internships, international exchanges, and a research, community, or international (RECI) pathway that lets them add such a component to their studies. A transfer pathway is also available for holders of a relevant technical diploma. The program is intended for students preparing for careers as lawyers, notaries, or other legal professionals, aiming to build theoretical legal knowledge, practical skills, and professional judgment applicable across settings such as law firms, government, international organizations, and the non-profit sector. Enrollment is limited and competitive, and courses are taught in French.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Direct entry is open to CEGEP graduates holding or completing a DEC, to university students with a DEC plus at least 12 completed university credits, to candidates with at least 48 university credits and no DEC, and to holders of a non-Quebec credential judged equivalent. Admission is competitive on academic record alone; among applicants evaluated as of 9 July 2026 the cote de rendement collegial (cote R) ranged from a minimum of 32.463 to a maximum of 39.227, averaging 34.378, though meeting the minimum in one year does not guarantee admission the next. Because instruction is in French, applicants who did not complete their prior schooling entirely in French must score at least C1 in oral and written comprehension on an accepted French test (DELF, DALF, TCF, etc.) taken within the previous 24 months, unless their education already satisfies the requirement. Indigenous and Black-community applicants who pass the initial file review must also complete a mandatory interview, conducted in French, virtually. The programme has limited capacity, runs full-time from August, and CEGEP applicants must apply by 1 March 2027 while university or out-of-province applicants apply by 1 February 2027.
