Overview
This doctoral program (PhD) in demography leads to a 90-credit degree following a thesis or research-based pathway, delivered full-time or part-time through day courses on the Montreal campus. Its minimum length is six trimesters (two years) full-time, with a maximum of fifteen trimesters (five years) full-time or eighteen trimesters (six years) part-time, excluding periods of interruption. Students contribute to the advancement of knowledge on fundamental societal phenomena and on the methods used to analyze populations, through advanced coursework in demographic theories and methods, alongside research seminars and the development of an original doctoral thesis under the supervision of a faculty member. Graduates of the university's own master's programs may be exempted from part of the standard application requirements for the doctorate.
