This 45-credit research-track master's program prepares graduates for theoretical or applied research in information science. Known as the MSI (recherche), it is completed through a thesis or a substantial research project under faculty supervision and leads to a Master of Science. The program is offered full-time, with a minimum of three trimesters, or part-time, over up to nine trimesters, with daytime courses at the Montreal campus. Students begin in the fall term. Admission requires a bachelor's degree and, critically, written agreement from a faculty member to direct the applicant's research before the application is submitted. The application file must also include two letters of recommendation and the School's own departmental application form. Instruction is in French, and the program does not publish a formal standardized language-test requirement for admission.
