The DESS en éducation, option Générale (Graduate Diploma in Education, General option) at Université de Montréal is a 30-credit specialized postgraduate diploma that updates practitioners' knowledge and encourages reflection on their professional practice, helping students understand current challenges in education. Courses are drawn from a broad pool spanning education administration, andragogy, didactics, comparative education and the foundations of education, as well as measurement and evaluation, special education, psychopedagogy, educational technology and instructional design. The program is offered full-time or part-time with daytime classes, and the minimum full-time duration is two terms, with a maximum of four years from initial enrolment. Admission to the General option is exceptional, normally reserved for students already admitted to another program in the Faculty of Education.
