BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering at Université du Québec à Chicoutimi in Saguenay, Canada is a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering programme. The programme runs for 4 years, delivered on campus. Tuition for international students is CAD 24,614 per year (CAD 3,118 per year for local students).
This Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering at Université du Québec à Chicoutimi trains engineers with versatile expertise in machine design, process engineering, and energy conversion, delivered full-time or part-time, in person, on the Saguenay campus. The curriculum covers mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, computer-aided design, machine elements, and control systems, alongside skills in problem modelling, numerical analysis, experimental methods, and technical communication. Students have access to paid co-op internship placements through dedicated internship microprograms, and the final year is built around a two-semester capstone synthesis project. Admission pathways include college science or technical diplomas, international baccalaureate credentials, prior university coursework, or relevant professional experience. The program suits prospective engineers interested in machine design, energy systems, aerospace applications, aluminum processing, or industrial automation, who want hands-on training connected to regional industry.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Regular entry requires a Quebec DEC in Sciences de la nature (200.B1), Sciences, informatique et mathematique (200.C1), or Sciences, lettres et arts (700.A1), or an equivalent DEC meeting the required collegial standards in chemistry (Chimie generale), mathematics (Calcul differentiel, Calcul integral, Algebre lineaire et geometrie vectorielle) and physics (Mecanique, Electricite et magnetisme, Ondes et physique moderne). A technical-DEC pathway (codes including 210.A0, 221.A0-D0, 222.A0, 230.A0, 231.A0-B0, 235.B0, 241.A0-D0, 243.A0-F0, 244.A0, 248.A0, 260.A0-B0, 270.A0-271.A0, 280.D0) is also accepted, but those graduates must start in the fall term. Etudes-hors-Quebec applicants with a foreign qualification in mathematics, chemistry, physics or earth sciences may be required to complete up to two extra preparatory semesters; etudes-universitaires applicants qualify with 15 completed university credits and a 2.3/4.3 cumulative average plus the collegial standards; a work-experience route accepts three months of full-time engineering-related experience with an employer attestation. Non-francophone applicants must pass a French test recognised by UQAC (TFI, TCF or TEF at B2/NCLC 8, or the DELF-B2 diploma) within 24 months of enrolment; exchange students from French-language partner universities are exempt. Admission is offered in the fall and winter terms, full- or part-time.
Application Details
Start Date:September and January
Application Deadline:Domestic applicants (Canadian citizens, permanent residents, protected persons and First Nations) apply directly to UQAC and, for non-quota programmes, may submit an admission application until the end of the course-registration period for the winter, summer or fall term, making admission effectively rolling; contingented (limited-enrollment) programmes instead hold applications to a per-programme deadline before reviewing them together. International applicants face fixed, earlier windows: for the 2025-2026 cycle the fall 2026 term ran from 2 September 2025 to 1 March 2026, while winter and summer 2026 closed on 1 August 2025 and 12 December 2025 respectively; as of September 2026 UQAC has not yet published the equivalent winter, summer or fall 2027 international dates. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
