This 30-credit undergraduate certificate provides foundational training in video game system design, covering game design problems, game systems and economy design, prototyping using a scripting language, and interface (UI) and user experience (UX) development. The curriculum combines six mandatory courses (18 credits) with four elective courses (12 credits) chosen from 24 options spanning digital marketing, ethics, digital arts, animation, 3D creation, web design, and game engines. The programme targets both non-specialist professionals already in the workforce seeking to reorient their careers toward game design and college graduates seeking initial training in the field. It is delivered in person at UQAC's Saguenay campus and admits students for the Fall and Winter terms. Graduates are prepared for roles such as game systems designer, game economy designer, or gameplay designer.
