Overview
This certificate in mechanical design and manufacturing at Polytechnique Montréal covers the precision of shapes, structures, and materials used to create machine parts, and the development of solutions that are both technically and economically viable. Courses address the theoretical and practical fundamentals of design and manufacturing, including computer-aided design and manufacturing, alongside professional decision-making skills. The certificate totals 30 credits, delivered part-time in the evening, fully online. It can be combined with two other eligible certificates toward a cumulative bachelor's degree in industrial production and performance. It suits people with engineering or technical backgrounds who have recently arrived in Quebec and want to complement their training, as well as designers and drafters seeking to strengthen their theoretical knowledge of parts manufacturing, leading to roles such as machine parts and mechanical systems designer and manufacturing planner.
