It provides interdisciplinary research training aimed at using research methods to solve problems and advance knowledge that improves educational practice in schools, social services, government, and other organizations. The 90 credits comprise 18 credits of mandatory coursework, 9 credits of optional coursework, a 9-credit doctoral project, and a 54-credit thesis. Coursework during the first two years is held at UQAM, typically on Thursdays and Fridays, with UQAR-based activities offered in tutorial format; financial assistance is available for related travel costs. Students may complete up to two optional 135-hour research internships with researchers or research teams in Quebec or abroad. The program admits a limited cohort each fall trimester.
