This Bachelor of Education program prepares secondary school teachers across five subject profiles: French, mathematics, science and technology, social studies, and music. The 120-credit curriculum runs over four years (eight trimesters), combining education courses in didactics, learning, cognition, and classroom management with profile-specific disciplinary coursework. Students complete four supervised school internships, one per year, for more than 720 hours of field experience across Quebec's Bas-Saint-Laurent, Cote-Nord, Gaspesie-Iles-de-la-Madeleine, Chaudiere-Appalaches, and Capitale-Nationale regions. Holders of a related disciplinary bachelor's degree can shorten the program to two years (French, mathematics, music) or two and a half years (science and technology, social studies) through an accelerated pathway. Admission requires a Quebec DEC with a minimum R-score of 22, plus profile-specific prerequisites such as college-level math or science courses or a music DEC; alternate routes exist for university coursework, out-of-province diplomas, or relevant professional experience. Graduates who pass the TECFEE test receive a permanent teaching certificate.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission requires a Quebec DEC with a minimum R-score (cote R) of 22; files between 20 and 22 are evaluated based on success in the required disciplinary courses. Profile-specific prerequisites apply: the mathematics profile requires a DEC in Natural Sciences, Science-Letters-Arts, or Science-Computer Science-Mathematics, or three college-level math courses covering differential and integral calculus and linear algebra; the science and technology profile requires a DEC in Natural Sciences or Science-Letters-Arts, or specified biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics courses; the music profile requires a DEC in Music (classical or jazz/popular) from a recognized conservatory. Alternate routes include at least 15 completed university credits with profile-specific competencies, an out-of-province diploma with a minimum average of 12/20 plus C1-level French proficiency, or at least 500 hours of relevant professional or teaching experience. All applicants must meet UQAR's French-language proficiency policy, including an Epigram diagnostic French test at entry, and must pass the TECFEE written French certification test to obtain the teaching certificate. Admission is for the fall trimester only, with an application deadline of August 20.
