BA/BS in Midwifery Practice at Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières in Trois-Rivières, Canada is a bachelor's degree in Midwifery programme. The programme runs for 3 years, delivered on campus. Tuition for international students is CAD 25,808 per year (CAD 3,118 per year for local students).
This Bachelor of Science in Midwifery Practice at Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières is a professional undergraduate degree, unique within Quebec's university network, delivered full-time on the Trois-Rivières campus. It prepares students to provide first-line care to pregnant individuals and families across the perinatal period, with coursework covering clinical competencies for pregnancy, labour, delivery, and newborn care, alongside topics such as obstetrical and neonatal pathology, pharmacotherapy, emergency response, communication, and Indigenous perinatal perspectives. The program is structured so that the earlier terms combine campus-based theoretical and laboratory work, while later terms shift into clinical placements in settings such as homes, birth centres, and hospitals, including a final placement that may take place internationally. Graduates become eligible for licensure with Quebec's professional midwifery order. The program suits students who are adaptable, compassionate, and comfortable working autonomously in community-based and clinical care settings.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission to the Bachelor of Midwifery Practice is per UQTR's program-based application. Quebec collegial, university or experience-route applicants must have completed human biology (101-SNU or equivalent) and organic chemistry (202-SNU or equivalent); applicants from outside Quebec need a 13-year pre-university diploma with a minimum 13/20 average, a 12-year diploma plus one university year at 13/20, or an equivalent midwifery diploma (Bac+3 or 15 years of study). As with all UQTR bachelor's and professional programs, candidates must meet the university's French-language admission requirement, using a recognized test such as UQTR's own TIFEI for international applicants (French nationals with a baccalaureat are exempt). Selection weighs the academic file or personal dossier (50%), the CASPer exam taken in French (30%), and an automated video interview of three questions completed between February 1 and March 1 (20%); experience-route applicants also submit a CV. The program is capped at 30 places, reserved for Quebec residents with one seat held for First Nations or Inuit applicants, and the application deadline is March 1; the last admitted cohort needed an R-score of 24.103.
Application Details
Start Date:September
Application Deadline:UQTR sets its own admission deadlines by trimester rather than through a shared application service: for the Fall 2027 trimester, undergraduate (first-cycle) applications are due 1 September 2027 and graduate (upper-cycle) applications 28 August 2027, while international applicants at either level must apply earlier, by 1 April 2027; for the Winter 2027 trimester, the undergraduate deadline is 5 January 2027, the graduate deadline is 1 January 2027, and the international deadline was 1 August 2026. UQTR notes that some contingented (limited-enrolment) programmes may carry different deadlines than these general dates, and that after any deadline it reserves the right not to process the application, so admission is firm rather than rolling. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
