This Diplome d'etudes superieures specialisees (DESS) in nursing sciences, specialized nurse practitioner profile in primary care, prepares licensed nurses for advanced practice in primary healthcare settings. The 30-credit, three-trimester program grounds advanced nursing practice in the theory of the nursing discipline and develops clinical judgment across situations involving health promotion, maintenance, and restoration. Practice is based on research evidence, and the program prepares graduates to exercise the expanded scope of practice granted under Article 36.1 of Quebec's Act respecting nurses, assuming clinical, transformational, and policy leadership roles in primary care clinics, community health settings, and the broader health system. The program is offered on a full-time or part-time basis, with admission in the Fall term at the Gatineau and Saint-Jerome campuses.
