Universite Laval's Doctor of Practical Theology (D.Th.P.) is a professional doctorate unique in French in Canada, synthesizing the tradition of the professional doctorate in theology with the field of practical theology. The program comprises 90 credits, with an estimated completion time of four to five years. Delivery follows an intensive format: two twelve-day intensive sessions per year, held in October and May, supplemented by roughly a day and a half of work per week between sessions. Admission requires a master's degree in theology, or an equivalent diploma, together with at least five years of experience in a field of practical intervention and ongoing engagement in that field. Applicants must have a program or graduation average of at least 3.00 on 4.33, or equivalent. Non-francophone applicants must score at least 361 out of 699 on the TCF tout public (TCF-TP) French-language test. The program admits new students in the fall term only.
