The Bachelor of Arts in History at University College of the North examines the record of past events and developments through cultural, political, intellectual, social, and economic perspectives. The program is offered as a three-year major (30 credit hours in History) or a four-year major (42 credit hours), either of which can be paired with an 18-credit-hour minor in another subject. All majors must complete introductory Canadian history courses covering the pre- and post-Confederation periods before declaring the major, followed by further study at the 2000 and 3000 level; four-year students also complete a minimum of 12 credit hours at the 4000 level. Delivered in person at the Pas Campus and Thompson Campus, the program develops research, source analysis, and argumentative writing skills. Graduates are prepared for further study or careers in education, public service, heritage, and related fields.
