The IT Support Technician certificate at University College of the North gives students hands-on training in computer hardware, software, networking, and technical support over five months at the The Pas campus. Coursework prepares students to write the CompTIA A+ certification exam, an industry-recognized credential for entry-level IT support roles. Instruction covers diagnosing and repairing hardware and software issues, setting up and maintaining networks, and providing help-desk and technical support to end users. Delivery is in-person, running from September to June. Graduates are prepared for entry-level help-desk and IT support positions, including roles supporting northern and Indigenous communities where local technical support capacity is limited. The program is designed for direct entry into the workforce after graduation, though graduates may also pursue further credentials in computing or networking.
