Bachelor of Education in Secondary Education Career and Technology Studies Design

This program in the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta prepares holders of a relevant trade credential for secondary school teaching with a major or minor in Career and Technology Studies: Design. It is one of several CTS specializations, alongside subjects such as business, computing science, communication arts, and natural resources, and a major and minor cannot both be taken within CTS. Students work toward certification to teach students in grades 7 to 12. The program includes a five-week Introductory Professional Term and a nine-week Advanced Professional Term, typically taught in the student's major subject. Admission is by transfer only, based on relevant provincial or federal journey certification, a degree, or a two-year diploma in the CTS major, and program length depends on the coursework a student brings in. Graduates are recommended for teacher certification in Alberta.
