This undergraduate program leads to a Bachelor's degree in interior design from Universite de Montreal, offered full-time over three years through day courses on the Montreal campus. The 90-credit curriculum combines theoretical coursework with studio design projects to develop skills in conceiving, representing, and realizing interior spaces, covering the relationship between users and their built environment across residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial settings. Students learn technical tools and professional design practices used in the field. Admission is open to Quebec CEGEP graduates, including holders of a technical DEC in interior design, to university students with prior credits, and to holders of a non-Quebec credential judged equivalent; candidates from a design university abroad are assessed on schooling, portfolio, motivation letter, and CV. Optional internships and international study exchanges are available. The program prepares graduates for professional practice or further study in interior design and related built-environment fields.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission routes include Quebec CEGEP (DEC) graduates, holders of a technical DEC in interior design techniques (eligible for DEC-BAC pathway recognition), university students with a DEC plus at least 12 completed university credits, candidates with at least 24 university credits without a DEC, and holders of a non-Quebec credential judged equivalent; for CEGEP and university applicants, selection rests solely on the strength of the academic record. Candidates coming from a design university outside Quebec are instead assessed on prior schooling, portfolio, motivation letter, and curriculum vitae. Because instruction is in French, applicants who did not complete their schooling entirely in French must document French proficiency, either by passing Quebec's Epreuve uniforme de francais, by completing at least 60 university credits in French, or by scoring at least C1 in oral and written comprehension on an accepted French test taken within the previous 24 months.
