Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics Nanoengineering Option Co Operative Nanoengineering

The Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics Nanoengineering Option Co-operative program is a specialization within the University of Alberta's Engineering Physics degree, introducing the physics problems associated with engineering at the nanoscale. Students work with materials under one micrometre in size and use the university's Micromachining and Nanofabrication Facility and its undergraduate nanotechnology lab. Admission is not available directly from high school; students enter through the Faculty of Engineering's common Foundational/Qualifying Year and choose Engineering Physics with the Nanoengineering Option after completing first year, or transfer in based on prior coursework and GPA. Through the Co-op stream, students complete five paid, supervised four-month work terms in addition to the usual eight academic terms, extending the program to five years and combining coursework with industry experience. Graduates pursue careers such as engineering physicist and nanoengineer.
