Bachelor of Science with Major Data Science Statistics Option

The Bachelor of Science with Major in Data Science, Statistics Option is offered by the Faculty of Science at the University of Alberta. The interdisciplinary Data Science programme combines computing science, mathematics and statistics, giving students the technical knowledge and problem-solving skills to work with data rigorously and responsibly, apply modern data science tools, and understand the principles behind them as the field evolves. The Statistics option emphasizes statistical modelling, inference, regression and statistical learning methods for analyzing real-world data. As a Bachelor of Science with Major, the degree is customizable: students may add an optional minor or double major chosen from more than 60 subjects across the Faculties of Arts, Native Studies, Business and Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences. The option is also offered as a BSc Honors degree. Admission is open to applicants directly from high school, subject to course prerequisites in English, mathematics and two of biology, physics, chemistry or an additional mathematics course, plus one course from an approved list of arts, humanities or language subjects, as well as to transfer students.
