The Master of Science in Surgery is a thesis-based graduate program offered by the Department of Surgery in the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta, delivered on campus. Research facilities include the Ray Rajotte Surgical-Medical Research Institute, the Alberta Diabetes Institute, the Heritage Medical Research Centre, the Li Ka Shing Centre for Health Research Innovation, the Medical Sciences Building, the Katz Building, and the Cross Cancer Institute, supported by core facilities such as surgical suites, simulation facilities, and an electron microscopy unit. Active research areas include islet transplantation, diabetes immunology, perinatal physiology, wound healing, xenotransplantation, stem cells and regenerative medicine, transplant immunoregulation, virology, neurological and urological oncology, orthopedics, surgical education, and organ preservation and transplantation.
