Overview
The Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Surgical and Interventional Sciences is a non-thesis, course-based program offered by the Department of Surgical and Interventional Sciences in McGill University's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. It may also be taken with an Oncology option, available only for the Fall intake, combining applied oncology research with surgery-based research informed by oncological principles. Students take part in multidisciplinary research projects using techniques in molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, physiology, pathology, bioinformatics, and genomics, within faculty research areas including injury repair and recovery, tissue engineering, transplantation, fibrosis, cancer and stem cell biology, and surgical innovation. Graduates develop skills in statistics, knowledge management, biomedical research, and epidemiology, alongside education and global surgery. Admission requires an eligible bachelor's degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0, plus English-language proficiency. The program admits students in the Fall term.
