Overview
The Master of Architecture (MArch) is a three-year accredited professional degree taking a broad approach to design and sustainability. The curriculum centers on design studio work supplemented by courses in building science, structures, lighting and theory, structured as nine foundation-year courses plus thirteen core and seven elective courses. A foundation year is required for applicants without a design-related four-year undergraduate degree. Enrichment opportunities include Block Week courses, the Design Matters Lecture Series and study-abroad programs. Admission requires a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale over the past two years of study, a four-year undergraduate degree, ideally with experience in design, the humanities, social sciences, arts, engineering or the biological or physical sciences, a digital portfolio, a resume or CV, an architectural image paragraph and three reference letters, at least two of which must be academic. The program admits students for a September 1 start, with an application deadline of January 31.
