Overview
The Master of Transdisciplinary Research (MTR) is a two-year, in-person program that gives students the opportunity to pursue research spanning, and extending beyond, traditional academic disciplines. All students complete two required courses, Introduction to Transdisciplinary Scholarship (TDST 600) and Knowledge and Community Engagement (TDST 601), plus a minimum of nine additional course units, alongside thesis research. The program emphasizes knowledge engagement and translation through its common coursework, experiential learning through collaboration with non-academic community partners, and a cohort model in which students researching different transdisciplinary topics learn from one another. Admission requires a four-year baccalaureate degree or equivalent from a recognized institution and a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale over the final two years of full-time study (at least 60 units). Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the university's English language proficiency requirement.
