The Master of Arts in Bilingualism Studies, offered through the Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute, focuses on applied linguistics, including bilingualism and multilingualism, methodological and technological innovations in adult second-language instruction, assessment of adult second-language competence, and language policy and planning. The program is offered in English and French, with two compulsory courses, one delivered in each language, and flexible elective choices that let students tailor their studies to a specific area of applied linguistics. Three completion options are available: a thesis, a research paper, or a course-based route, offered on both a full-time and part-time basis. A dual-degree partnership with Universite Lyon 2 is also available for eligible students. Admission requires an honours bachelor's degree or equivalent in Second Language Teaching, Applied Linguistics, or a related discipline, or a three-year bachelor's degree in Applied Linguistics or a related discipline combined with a university-administered advanced certificate in TESOL, with a minimum admission average of 70% (B). Full-time thesis-option students complete requirements within two years.
