The Graduate Certificates in Social Work are stand-alone credentials for practising social workers holding a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or Master of Social Work (MSW) degree who want formal professional development in their field. Delivered through a combination of online learning and in-person classes, including mandatory in-person residencies, each certificate consists of four courses (3 units each) completed over eight months on a part-time basis. Students completing the Advanced Social Work Practice certificate together with one specialization certificate receive credit toward 24 units of the course-based Master of Social Work program, giving the certificates a laddering pathway into the MSW. Admission takes place once a year, in September, with the same application deadline for both Canadian/permanent-resident and international applicants. The certificates suit practising social workers seeking focused specialization without committing immediately to a full master's degree.
