This programme leads to a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Real Estate at the University of Guelph, one of a small number of undergraduate programmes in Canada that specialize in the real estate sector. It takes a multidisciplinary approach to residential and commercial/investment real estate, covering development, financing, valuation, market analysis and management within their economic, legal, political and social context, alongside core business coursework in finance, marketing and economics. The Honours major requires 20.00 credits, completed over the standard eight-semester, four-year full-time course of study used across University of Guelph Bachelor of Commerce programmes; a five-year co-op option including 2.50 credits of work terms provides over 20 months of real-world experience. Graduates are prepared for careers in real estate development, brokerage, valuation, investment analysis and property management.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Accounting and Real Estate are entered through the Bachelor of Commerce, in the admission group that also includes Food and Agricultural Business, Management, Marketing Management, Management Economics and Finance, Sport and Event Management and Undeclared Commerce. Applicants need English (ENG4U), Advanced Functions (MHF4U), one further 4U Mathematics course, and three additional 4U or 4M courses, six 4U/M courses in total. The admission average is calculated from these six courses under the current Ontario Secondary School Curriculum; where two completed courses are judged equivalent, only one counts, and the non-academic component of 4U/M co-op courses is excluded from the calculation.
