Early Years Education is a four-year Bachelor of Education program at the University of Lethbridge preparing students to teach kindergarten to grade 3 classrooms. Students build the knowledge, skills and confidence to create meaningful learning experiences for young children, working across a range of disciplines relevant to primary-level teaching. Early Years students complete 27 weeks of field experience in real classrooms alongside teacher mentors, matching the extensive practicum given to every student in the university's Bachelor of Education program, and progress from initial classroom observations toward leading their own class by graduation. The program leads to Alberta Teacher Certification on completion, and graduates go on to careers such as early childhood educator or primary school teacher, typically within Alberta's kindergarten-to-grade-3 public and separate school systems. Applications for the Fall intake are due by February 1.
