This combined-degree program leads to a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education, preparing students to teach social studies through a choice of eight major specializations: Anthropology, Canadian Studies, Economics, Geography, History, Political Science, Sociology, or a General Major in the Social Sciences. Students build subject-area knowledge in their chosen specialization alongside professional education coursework covering general and subject-specific instructional methods. A Bachelor of Education after an approved undergraduate degree is also available for graduates of another program. Combined-degree Education programs at the University of Lethbridge are direct entry, with admission based on the requirements of the paired non-education Bachelor of Arts degree. The program is delivered at the Lethbridge campus, with intake in the Fall term. Coursework combines subject-area study in the chosen major with training in curriculum planning and classroom instruction.
