Overview
This Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) major combines strategy, leadership, and international business, with core courses in leading change, strategic thinking and cross-functional management, management decision making, negotiation and conflict management, international finance, international marketing, and global supply chains. The program is offered full-time or part-time through the Asper School of Business on the Fort Garry campus, with the major typically declared at the start of third year subject to a minimum 2.00 Degree Grade Point Average; a co-op option and international exchange are available over the four-year degree. It is intended to build skills in leading diverse teams, navigating organizational politics, managing change, and negotiating, and suits students considering management consulting, business planning and analysis, international business development, or regional management within global firms.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: I.H. Asper School of Business admission, applies to all BComm Honours majors — not Strategy and Global Management-specific. Direct Entry (Manitoba high school students, fewer than 24 post-secondary credit hours): minimum average of 85% over English 40S, Pre-Calculus Mathematics 40S, and two academic 40S courses, with no less than 70% in each course. Advanced Entry Track 1 (24 specific credit hours: Mathematics, Statistics, two Economics courses, GMGT 1010, university-level Written English, plus electives): minimum AGPA of 2.00. Advanced Entry Track 2 (24+ credit hours, no grade below C, no specific courses required at entry but Track 1 courses must be completed afterward): minimum AGPA of 3.10. After admission to the BComm program, students typically declare Strategy and Global Management at the beginning of third year, requiring a minimum Degree GPA of 2.00. Meeting these minimums does not guarantee admission; admission is competitive and at the Asper School's discretion.
