Overview
Red River College Polytechnic (RRC Polytech) is Manitoba's largest institute of applied learning and research, headquartered in Winnipeg.
Its roots trace back to 1938, and the institution adopted the RRC Polytech name on October 5, 2021, alongside the launch of its 2022-2026 strategic plan, In Front of What's Ahead, to reflect a model that blends knowledge-based study with applied, hands-on training. It offers more than 150 full- and part-time degree, diploma and certificate options across business and management, community services, creative arts, culinary arts, education, engineering and construction technology, health sciences, Indigenous education, information technology, skilled trades and transportation technology.
RRC Polytech operates nine campuses across Manitoba: the Exchange District, Notre Dame, South Winnipeg and Stevenson (Airport) campuses in Winnipeg, plus regional campuses in Interlake and Peguis-Fisher River, Portage la Prairie, Steinbach, Stevenson (Southport) and Winkler. It also delivers the in-class technical training for dozens of trades designated under the Manitoba Apprenticeship and Certification Act, from carpenter and construction electrician to aircraft maintenance journeyperson, with apprentices spending about 80 percent of their time in paid on-the-job training.
Applied research and industry collaboration run through dedicated centres such as the Price Institute of Advanced Manufacturing and Mechatronics, the Schroeder Institute of Entertainment and Media Arts, the Prairie Research Kitchen and the Vehicle Technology and Energy Centre, and many programs build in co-op work terms or other work-integrated learning.
