Overview

This joint honours program combines in-depth study of mathematics with physics and astronomy in a four-year, 120-credit-hour Bachelor of Science (Honours) offered by the Faculty of Science at the University of Manitoba. Students complete a structured plan of study covering core mathematics courses, including linear algebra and calculus, alongside physics and astronomy coursework, with the option to add a co-operative education stream that places students in paid, supervised work terms under the same academic entry and continuation standards as the regular program. To remain in the Honours program, students must maintain a Degree Grade Point Average of at least 3.00 and complete a minimum of nine credit hours in each Fall and Winter term. Graduation requires the same 3.00 DGPA together with a grade of C+ or better in every Honours Program Specific physics and astronomy course, and a C or better in all remaining courses that make up the 120-credit-hour degree. The joint honours structure suits students preparing for graduate study or research careers spanning both mathematics and physics and astronomy.
