Overview

The Master of Science in Pathology at the University of Manitoba is offered by the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine within the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences. The program follows the general admission requirements of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies and is open to Honours Science graduates with a strong background in biology, among other qualified applicants. Two routes are available: a research and thesis-based stream, and a Pathologists' Assistant practicum stream that combines coursework with clinical rotations and hands-on laboratory experience. Students must maintain a minimum degree grade point average of 3.0 with no grade below C+. The thesis-based stream has a maximum completion time of four years for full-time students, while the practicum stream is recommended to be completed within two years. Graduates are prepared for further doctoral study, laboratory medicine careers, or clinical pathologists' assistant roles.
