Overview
The Master of Forest Engineering is a one-year graduate degree at UNB Fredericton's Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Management, offered full-time or part-time. Students complete 24 credit hours of coursework, roughly eight courses, along with a research report on a topic chosen with their supervisor. Up to half of the coursework may be taken at the senior undergraduate level, with the remainder at graduate level, and students may take courses outside the faculty with supervisor approval. The program covers forest engineering at an advanced level, with attention to forest operations and management, bioenergy, and value-added and engineered wood product manufacturing. Each student works with a faculty supervisor and two additional supervisory committee members on the research report. Admission normally requires an undergraduate degree in forestry, engineering, or a natural science with at least a 3.0 GPA, and applicants are expected to arrange research supervision with a faculty member before applying. International applicants whose first language is not English need a minimum IELTS band score of 7. Students may begin at the start of any term.
