Master of Forestry

The Master of Forestry is a report-based graduate degree at UNB Fredericton offered in two formats. A one-year option is available to students who already hold an undergraduate degree in forestry, combining 24 credit hours of graduate and upper-year undergraduate coursework with a research report. A second, roughly 16-month option leads to the MF-RPF (Registered Professional Forester) designation for students without a forestry background; it includes structured coursework aligned with RPF competency requirements, a summer internship in which students develop a Forest Stewardship Management Plan, and a professional report. Both formats can be completed full-time or part-time. Subject areas addressed in the program include forest management, fire and insect management, climate change, wildlife conservation, and wood products. The one-year stream suits graduates who already hold a forestry degree and want to deepen their expertise, while the RPF stream suits graduates of the natural or life sciences, or mid-career professionals, who want to gain professional forestry credentials. The program is delivered at UNB's Fredericton campus.
