Overview
The MA in Disability Management equips graduates to work with labour, management, insurance providers, employers and employees on successful work-entry and return-to-work strategies for people with disabilities. It draws together economics, community health, social work, psychology, education and business, and the combination of coursework, research and applied practice gives students a well-rounded grounding in the field. The degree is offered primarily online and part time, with a full-time in-person option considered in special cases. Both routes total thirty-six credit hours: the comprehensive examination option pairs twelve credit hours of disability management core courses and six of research methods with fifteen credit hours of electives and a three-credit comprehensive exam, while the thesis option shifts nine of those elective hours into a nine-credit thesis, subject to supervisor availability. Core coursework covers professional ethics in health care management, foundations of disability management, legislation, policy and procedures, and disability management interventions.

Admission Requirements: Admission follows UNBC's General Admission requirements set out in the Graduate Academic Calendar, since the program page adds no separate academic prerequisites of its own: a minimum overall average of 3.00 (B) in third- and fourth-year undergraduate courses. Every applicant must undergo a Criminal Record Check before starting classes; domestic applicants submit results after receiving an offer, while international applicants must submit a police-authority Criminal Record Check with their application and a BC Criminal Record Check if admitted. International applicants must also meet UNBC's graduate English-language proficiency requirement: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall (no band under 6.0), TOEFL iBT 90 (no component under 20), PTE Academic 65 (no component under 60), or CAEL 70 (no subtest under 60). The MA is offered primarily online and part-time, with a full-time in-person option available only in special cases.

Application Deadline:Fall (September) intake only - UNBC lists no Spring or Winter intake. Applications open 1 October and close 1 July, and UNBC states this deadline is not extended. UNBC also states that international applicants are not eligible for a study permit for this degree because it is a part-time online program. UNBC publishes these as recurring annual dates and refreshes its graduate intakes each spring, so confirm the current cycle before applying.
