Program details

Overview

The micro-credential, developed by UNBC Continuing Studies together with Hubspace, introduces Indigenous learners to the principles and practices of entrepreneurship and running a small business. It frames starting a business as more than following a set of steps, instead working through ideas, identifying opportunities, and creating chances to connect with people who have already built their own successful businesses.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: This UNBC Continuing Studies micro-credential has no formal academic application; the stated prerequisites are Grade 10 equivalent reading, writing and comprehension, plus access to a computer or laptop with a webcam and microphone. No English-language proficiency test score is specified. The program is aimed at aspiring Indigenous entrepreneurs, Indigenous small-business owners in the early or growth stage, and Indigenous makers, creatives and knowledge holders. To earn the micro-credential, participants must maintain at least 80% attendance, take part actively in classroom exercises, and successfully complete all weekly assignments; no portfolio, interview or work-experience requirement is stated.

Application Details

Application Deadline: UNBC's general-entry Bachelor's programs (BA, BComm, BPl, BSc) accept domestic (Canadian/PR) applications continuously with no fixed closing date for either the September or January semester. International applicants face undated, recurring cutoffs that UNBC prints without a specific year: 11 July for September-semester entry and 8 November for January-semester entry; applying later risks missing the documentation needed to study in Canada before the semester begins. Competitive-entry programs (Engineering, Nursing, Health Sciences, Education, Social Work) and individual graduate programs set their own dates each cycle -- see the programme-specific entries below for this institution's graduate programs. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
