The General First Nations Studies Certificate is a multidisciplinary program allowing you to pursue your interests in First Nations Studies through a concentrated program of courses on First Nations subjects. The program ladders well into a major in First Nations Studies, Anthropology, Biology, History, Education, English, Environmental Studies, Forestry, Geography, Nursing and Community Health, Political Science, Psychology, Social Work and Women's Studies.

Admission Requirements: Admission into this Certificate program follows the same requirements as admission to any UNBC undergraduate program: applicants are assessed under the standard secondary-school, transfer or post-secondary entry categories, which for direct secondary-school entry means an overall 65% average across five approved Grade 12 courses. To remain eligible for the Certificate itself, students must maintain a minimum GPA of C, calculated on all UNBC coursework applied toward the Certificate; up to 15 credit hours of transfer credit from another recognized institution may be applied. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet UNBC's institution-wide English proficiency requirement: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no module below 6.0, TOEFL iBT 90 with at least 20 per section, Duolingo English Test 125 with no sub-score below 115, CAEL 70 with no subtest below 60, or PTE Academic 65 with no section below 60. Students are advised to consult the Chair of the First Nations Studies Program, and where appropriate the Director of their regional campus, before beginning Certificate coursework, since course scheduling varies by term.
