Requirements

Admission Requirements: The First Nations Studies Certificate programmes page states that admission follows the same standard as any UNBC undergraduate programme, and that a minimum GPA of C, based on all courses taken at UNBC, must be maintained once enrolled. The general undergraduate standard requires an overall average of 65% minimum built from five Grade 12 courses: English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12, three further approved academic Grade 12 subjects, and one additional Grade 12 course, academic or elective, whichever grade is higher; transfer applicants instead need at least 15 transferable credit hours and a GPA equivalent to UNBC 2.00 or C (63%) on their most recent 30 credit hours. International applicants must meet UNBC's English language requirement (IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0, TOEFL iBT 90 with no section below 20, PTE Academic 65 with no skill below 60, Duolingo 125 with no component below 115, CAEL 70 with no subtest below 60, or MELAB 80 with a minimum 3 on Speaking). Students must also establish their course of study with the approval of the Chair of First Nations Studies.

Application Details

Application Deadline: UNBC's general-entry Bachelor's programs (BA, BComm, BPl, BSc) accept domestic (Canadian/PR) applications continuously with no fixed closing date for either the September or January semester. International applicants face undated, recurring cutoffs that UNBC prints without a specific year: 11 July for September-semester entry and 8 November for January-semester entry; applying later risks missing the documentation needed to study in Canada before the semester begins. Competitive-entry programs (Engineering, Nursing, Health Sciences, Education, Social Work) and individual graduate programs set their own dates each cycle -- see the programme-specific entries below for this institution's graduate programs. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
