This PhD programme in Electrical and Computer Engineering is delivered through the Ottawa-Carleton Institute for Electrical and Computer Engineering (OCIECE), established in 1983, which combines the research strengths of the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Ottawa with the departments of Electronics and of Systems and Computer Engineering at Carleton University. Students pursue full-time doctoral research under supervision from faculty at either institution, normally completing all degree requirements within four years. Admission requires a master's degree in electrical and computer engineering, or in a related discipline, or the equivalent, with a minimum average of A-. Applicants whose first language is neither French nor English must provide proof of proficiency in the language of instruction.
