The Master of Science Nursing (MScN) at the University of Ottawa prepares registered nurses for advanced practice roles and for further doctoral study. The program is grounded in nursing theory and research addressing health-related phenomena across individuals, families, groups, and communities, and is delivered entirely on campus with no distance option. Students choose between two full-time routes: a thesis option, completed over six terms (24 consecutive months), and a shorter clinical option, completed over five terms (20 consecutive months); part-time study is also available. Coursework and research proceed in English or French, the University's two languages of instruction, and applicants whose first language is neither must provide proof of proficiency. Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree in nursing, or an equivalent degree, with a minimum overall average of 70% (B); have successfully completed an introductory statistics course, or its equivalent, within the last six years; and hold a current certificate of competence issued by the College of Nurses of Ontario. Applicants must be able to understand and fluently speak the language of instruction, English or French; those whose first language is neither must provide proof of proficiency in the language of instruction.
