Overview
The Certificate in Business offers a sampling of foundational business courses and can serve as a stepping stone into UPEI's Bachelor of Business Administration program. It consists of ten three-semester-hour courses: three required courses in introductory financial accounting, marketing, and organizational behaviour, plus seven electives chosen from accounting, management science, entrepreneurship, finance, human resources, business law, operations, and project management. Courses are generally offered during the regular academic year, with some available in summer school. The certificate totals 30 semester hours of credit and is delivered through the McDougall Faculty of Business on UPEI's Charlottetown campus. It suits students seeking an introduction to business topics, or applicants with relevant work experience, without committing to a full degree program.

Admission Requirements: Direct entry to the Certificate in Business requires Grade 12 completion in a University Preparatory Program with an overall average of at least 70% (75% for Quebec Secondary V) across English, Mathematics, two of Social Studies, Languages, or Sciences, and one other academic course; applicants with appropriate work experience are also considered. As an undergraduate Business program it falls under UPEI's general English Language Proficiency Requirement: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0, TOEFL PBT 550 with a TWE of 5.5, TOEFL Essentials 8.5 with no score below 8.0, CAEL 60, PTE Academic 58, Cambridge 176 overall with no skill below 169, Duolingo English Test 120 with subscores of at least 115, or Oxford ELLT 7 with no component below 6.
