Overview
This Bachelor's program in Economics is offered through the Faculty of Arts or Faculty of Science, with Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Honours variants running four years, alongside a separate one- to two-year Certificate in Economics. The curriculum examines how individuals, businesses, governments, and nations make choices about their economic wellbeing, covering microeconomics and macroeconomics along with applied topics such as government and the economy, Canadian agriculture, and environmental economics. Students can pursue co-operative education placements and other hands-on learning in public, private, and not-for-profit organizations, and study-abroad options are available. The Bachelor of Science route carries a heavier mathematics and science load, including computer science and statistics courses, while combined majors are offered with business administration, geography, history, or statistics. The program suits students who want quantitative training in analytical reasoning, data analysis, and financial literacy applied to real-world policy and business questions. Described career paths for graduates include economic development specialist or analyst, research analyst, and financial analyst, largely within government, banking, and finance.

Admission Requirements: The economics page only references meeting the Faculty of Arts admission requirements and links to the general application guide; the specifics below are that guide's Saskatchewan high-school pathway, which for the economics major specifically requires Pre-Calculus 30 or Foundations of Math 30 among the final-admission courses. Final admission otherwise needs Saskatchewan Secondary standing with English Language Arts A30 and two further approved 30-level courses, to a 70% average; applicants averaging 60-69.99% are admitted to the Arts Qualifying Year. Grade 12 students can be admitted early-conditionally on a 70% average across four approved 20/30-level courses. International applicants must also meet English proficiency: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall (no band below 6.0), TOEFL iBT 83 (4.5 overall from 21 January 2026), PTE Academic 59, CAEL 60, or Duolingo 120.

Application Deadline:Domestic applicants to the University of Regina apply for Fall 2027 entry with a recommended early deadline of 15 March 2027 for best course selection and a final new-applicant deadline of 15 August 2027; Winter 2027-28 entry has an early deadline of 1 November 2026 and a final deadline of 15 December 2026, and Spring/Summer 2027 entry closes 15 April 2027. International (study-permit) applicants share the same final deadlines as domestic students for each term but have no separate early deadline. Numerous named programs, including Nursing, Social Work, Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work, Indigenous Fine Arts and Indigenous Education, carry their own earlier deadlines instead of the general dates. Admission is not described as rolling; late non-competitive applications are simply carried to the next term the program accepts. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
