Overview
The Master of Fine Arts in Visual Arts is a two-year, terminal-degree program offered through the University of Regina's Faculty of Media, Art, and Performance. It focuses on the practice and production of studio art and its contextualization within contemporary practices and critical discourse, with six areas of concentration: Ceramics, Drawing, Painting, Photo-based media, Printmaking, and Sculpture, and the option to work across multiple areas. The program is intentionally small, admitting a maximum of five students each year to allow intensive faculty-student interaction. Graduates develop the skills of practising artists and are qualified to teach at the university level. Applicants require a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree or equivalent and must submit a portfolio, artist statement, letter of intent, transcripts, references, and language proficiency documentation where applicable.
