Overview
Animal Bioscience is a Bachelor of Science program offered by the University of Saskatchewan's College of Agriculture and Bioresources, focused on the biology of domestic animals: metabolism, genetics, physiology, nutrition, behaviour, health and care, along with the environmental and social dimensions of animal agriculture. Students combine coursework with direct animal-handling experience and can extend the subject matter into biomedical sciences, companion and equine care, or environmental applications. A defining feature of the later years is a literature-based thesis component, in which a student formulates a research question relevant to animal bioscience and works under faculty supervision to investigate it through the scientific literature. Graduates become eligible for Professional Agrologist membership through the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists. The College of Agriculture and Bioresources requires Biology 30, Chemistry 30, and Foundations of Mathematics 30 or Pre-Calculus 30. The college sets a minimum admission average of 70%, with applications considered on a rolling basis until all seats are filled. English proficiency follows the University of Saskatchewan's general undergraduate standard: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall (minimum 6.0 per band), TOEFL iBT 86 (minimum 19 per section; 4.5 overall with 4.0 per section on the new scale for tests from 21 January 2026), Duolingo English Test 120 (minimum 100 per subscore), PTE Academic 63 (minimum 59 per skill), or CAEL 70 (minimum 60 per skill), as set out on the university's English Language Proficiency page.

Application Deadline:The University of Saskatchewan does not publish fixed general application deadlines for its direct-entry undergraduate colleges (Agriculture and Bioresources, Arts and Science, Education, Edwards School of Business, Engineering, Kinesiology, Dental Hygiene, Dental Therapy): admission requirements and deadlines for the 2027-28 cycle become available only once applications open on 25 September 2026, and the site gives no separate international closing date.
