Overview

Biomedical Foundations is a three-year, 90-credit-unit major within the Bachelor of Science (Biomedical Science) offered jointly by the College of Medicine's Departments of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology and of Anatomy, Physiology, and Pharmacology, within the College of Arts and Science. Students complete a shared two-year biomedical sciences core with the university's other biomedical majors, then a Core Requirement (24 credit units) and Major Requirement (18 credit units) specific to Biomedical Foundations, alongside college-wide English language writing, Indigenous learning, quantitative reasoning, and elective requirements. The program is designed for students planning to enter health-related professional schools that do not require a four-year degree, such as Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, and Pharmacy, and it also prepares graduates for biotechnology-related careers in academic, research, and industry settings. The program can be taken full-time or part-time, can be started off-campus, and admits students in the Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer terms.
