Overview
The Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics builds your understanding of mathematical concepts. You'll take courses in calculus, discrete mathematics, algebra, and other advanced topics as you build a comprehensive understanding of math. In addition to your mathematics course work, you develop a breadth of intellectual and academic experience through studies in other disciplines. Upon graduation, your skills can be applied in a variety of sectors, such as manufacturing, mining and oil, public administration, and professional, scientific, and technical services.

Admission Requirements: UFV applies its standard Bachelor of Arts entrance requirements to the Mathematics BA program. From B.C. secondary school, applicants need graduation or equivalent, English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 at C+ (or IB/AP English or an out-of-province/out-of-country equivalent), plus a B average across two further approved Grade 12 courses. Without a secondary credential, admission runs through post-secondary study instead: 30 or more university-level credits with a cumulative GPA of 2.00, 9 or more transferable credits with a GPA of 3.00, a two-year-plus post-secondary diploma with a GPA of 2.50, or a completed bachelor's degree with a GPA of 2.00. Out-of-country applicants must also meet the prerequisites for ENGL 105 or CMNS 125. The Academic Calendar entry states no separate standardized English-language test score for this degree. Applicants who fall short of any of these paths may complete upgrading through UFV's Qualifying Studies or Upgrading and University Preparation advising before applying.
