Overview
The Bachelor of Science in Physics allows you to explore the nature of matter, energy, and their interactions, both theoretically and experimentally. In this program, you learn early on about fundamental topics like electromagnetism, wave physics, thermodynamics, and relativity. Upper level courses then give you the opportunity to discuss advanced topics like quantum theory and fluid mechanics, applying principles of mathematics to the material world around you. As a physics graduate, you can find work in government or industry labs, in technical fields such as radiation monitoring or power plants, or as a scientific equipment operator.

Admission Requirements: The Physics BSc programme page links to its Academic Calendar entry for entrance requirements, which places the major under UFV's general Bachelor of Science entrance standard. Applicants need B.C. secondary school graduation or equivalent, or nine university-level credits with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00. A mathematics prerequisite is required (Pre-Calculus 12 or Principles of Mathematics 12 at C, Calculus 12 at B, MATH 092 and 093, MATH 096, or an MDPT score of 55% or higher), plus a science prerequisite at a minimum C+ from an approved list (Biology, Anatomy/Physiology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geography/Geology, Physics, or Statistics). All applicants must meet UFV's Degree/diploma-level English language proficiency requirement, for example IELTS Academic 6.5 (no band below 6.0) or TOEFL iBT 88 (no section below 20).
